I love the work of Russell Patterson. Beautiful compositions and simple elegant lines. I found this image in a book called "Top hats and Flappers, the art of Russell Patterson." I highly recommend it.
I love seeing your inspirations and processes on this blog. I'm an art student and you're in my top three creative idols & influenced my earliest work, so there's always a little bit of your influence in what I do :) Would it be possible to share the cover image for The Penultimate Peril without the title and border around it? It's one of my most favourite images and I'd LOVE to see it in its original form.
Thanks, Liam. All of the 'Unfortunate Events" covers were painted as a single painting. All the banners and borders are part of the original image. The only thing added was the typography.
That's interesting! I knew that the covers were painted but I didn't consider that the central image was part of its surroundings. I thought that they were done separately.
