FAVORITE ILLUSTRATIONS

This is one of my favorite illustrations by one of my favorite illustrators, Fritz Eichenberg. If your not familiar with his work you should have a look. This is the cover image from his edition of Wuthering Heights, by Emily Bronte. This picture is a great example of using composition to tell the story. It not only illustrates the narrative but also captures the mood and emotions of the scene. Few have done it better.

Hey everyone!

Hope you are keeping yourself warm in this cold weather.

I have some cool news: metro.us listed "Grumpy Goat" as one of the four books you should read to your kids this January. But even if you don't have kids you should still read it, or at least check out the article.

P.S. here's a sketch  from the book

Stay warm and have a great weekend!

BEAUTIFUL PAINTING

I just stumbled across a beautiful book collecting the paintings of Edgar Payne. I know nothing about him, but I love the paintings. Great compositions and great brushwork. I'm inspired. Check it out, the book is called Edgar Payne, The Scenic Journey.

Grumpy Goat

Hi everyone, hope you had a great week.
And I have awesome news for you! My new book “Grumpy Goat” is coming out next month and will be available in stores January 12.

“Publishers Weekly” wrote a review on it. You can check it out here

A little behind the scenes: A few years ago I made a drawing of a goat with a dandelion as an illustration for a book in “the Series of Unfortunate Events”. It was just a short moment, but I always felt there is more story to it. I kept thinking about it and it eventually became the “Grumpy Goat”.

All of the illustrations are made with oil on paper. Hope you like reading it.
Take care and happy holidays!
