I just stumbled across a beautiful book collecting the paintings of Edgar Payne. I know nothing about him, but I love the paintings. Great compositions and great brushwork. I'm inspired. Check it out, the book is called Edgar Payne, The Scenic Journey.
Edgar Payne was a well known California landscape painter that painted during the 20s,30s until his death in 1947. he was known for his analytical approach in composition and his application of thick juicy paint. If you ever see one of his paintings in person, it will change the way you paint! They are rich and marvelous!
